– ROLE » DESIGNER –
Tyrant is a Tv show on FX that is about the son of a Middle Eastern dictator who escaped that life as a child and grew up in Los Angeles. He goes back to the middle east for the first time in 20 years for a wedding and ends up having to stay there when his father suddenly ends up dead.
– TYRANT – DIRECTION 01 –In this direction I wanted to explore silhouettes. The main character is shown in silhouette as a boy and as an adult to show how he has grown and changed while the life that he left behind is not only still haunting him, but hasn’t changed at all.
– TYRANT – DIRECTION 02 –In this direction I wanted to show that his father the dictator was not loved. His propaganda posters all defaced, covered in graffiti and torn. These torn edges reveal images underneath, alluding to the many layers of politics and treachery.
– TYRANT – DIRECTION 03 –In this direction I was inspired by middle eastern calligraphy. I wanted to create a world out of the shapes and show the passage from one world, Los Angeles, to the next, the middle east.
– TYRANT – DIRECTION 04 –This direction was inspired by lenticular prints. When viewed from different a different perspective the image is different. I wanted to show the duality of who the character was and who he now has to be.
– TYRANT – DIRECTION 05 –In this direction the broken type represents the main character. It is beautiful, crisp and clean, but broken in a landscape where it doesn’t belong.
– TYRANT – DIRECTION 06 –This direction is very similar to direction 5, though instead of showing the same concept through crisp clean type I wanted to explore sand as an element.
– TYRANT – DIRECTION 07 –In this direction I was inspired by the concept of positive and negative. Light in darkness, darkness in the light.
